" A boy who wont stand up for himself becomes a man who cant stand up to anything". This relates to free will because Amir does not stand up for himself in the beginning of the book. He makes Hassan help him and make him his body guard and protect him from any harm.
" There is a way to be good again". This represents free will because Amir finally has a chance to be his old self. He wanted to be good not go back to what he did in the past.
“I became what I am today at the age of twelve, on a frigid overcast day in the winter of 1975. I remember the precise moment, crouching behind a crumbling mud wall, peeking into the alley near the frozen creek. That was a long time ago, but it’s wrong what they say about the past, I’ve learned, about how you can bury it. Because the past claws its way out. Looking back now, I realize I have been peeking into that deserted alley for the last twenty-six years.” Amir watched and see his best friend get hurt that was his choice. He could have stopped it if he wanted to, but he didn't want to he was scared and was against it.
“He knew I'd seen everything in that alley, that I'd stood there and done nothing. He knew that I'd betrayed him and yet he was rescuing me once again, maybe for the last time. ” Hassan knew Amir was watching him, but still chose to ignore the fact that Amir didn't rescue him. In the end he decides to save Amir one last time from trouble like a loyal and true friend.
